Psychology Of Fraud: Why Good People Do Bad Things : NPR: We like to help each other, especially people we identify with. And when we are helping people, we really don't see what we are doing as unethical.

Editor: I saw a parallel with abortion in this. The story went on to say how, when faced with a person they like who wants them to do wrong, people rarely think of the big picture -- future abstract consequences. The woman is there, staring you in the face; her baby -- and countless other nameless, faceless unborn babies -- is an abstraction.
