Prominent embryonic stem cell researchers leaving field

Prominent embryonic stem cell researchers leaving field, dimming prospects | Stem Cell Research Cures: As research progresses and alternatives to killing human embryos arise, the most prominent advocates and pioneers of human embryonic stem cell research are turning away from the field due to the scientific implausibility and monetary impossibility of the cells ever being used in large scale ways to cure diseases.

  1. This is full of nothing at all but lies. The retinal studies funded by ACT Corp. are currently helping blind people to see. The ALS trial funded by NeuralStem is showing tremendous results.
The cervical spinal cord injury funded by Geron was funded precisely because they couldn't get enough funding-- not because it wasn't working. Induced pluripotent stem cells are 5-10 years away from FDA approval for clinical trials because of the results of animal studies, which include tumor development and genetic damage. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20362696, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21572395.)

Adult stem cells are useful only for limited purposes BECAUSE they can't differentiate into pluripotent cells. And the claim that they are "affordable" is a lie. Each treatment currently costs $15,000 and is not covered by insurance, and is clearly labeled experimental. The FDA warns that adult stem cells may multiply, form tumors, or may migrate elsewhere in the body from the spot where they were placed, :

Hundreds of millions of lives are at stake. We won't go back. And God does not want hundreds of millions of people to suffer and die. Beware of any church thinking they have a direct line to God's will.
