This week at the Metro Women's Center

Director Colleen Tronson (Metro Women's Center in Crystal, MN) reports:
[A] baby, who was rescued from abortion a few months ago, was born. Mom and baby are doing well, and we had the joy of seeing this little one and presenting her family with a handmade baby quilt from the Center. We were thrilled to be part of this life-affirming outcome. This dear mother chose to make an adoption plan for her child. . . .
As we build relationships, we gain opportunities to share more from the Word with our clients. One of our volunteers was able to pray with a client to receive the Lord this past week. The client is excited about doing Bible study, and the volunteer is working on building a relationship with her around the Word of God.

We have three babies due over the next 6 weeks that we would ask specific prayer for due to complicating circumstances. Some have special physical challenges, and others are more relational. Please pray that God's will is done in each of these situations.

Since Monday, there have been three calls requesting abortion information. When these calls come, we attempt to offer positive help and try to find out what the main reason the caller has for considering abortion. Sometimes we get past the initial minute of the conversation, but at other times, once the callers know we don't do abortions or refer for them, they hang up. Unfortunately, all three callers this week were not interested in changing their course of action. Intellectually we know that we did all that we could to change the caller's mind, but emotionally these calls are hard for our staff and volunteers. We continue to pray that someone else would cross the path of the caller before it is too late.

The most wonderful event this week was when a couple came in with abortion on their minds due to financial problems. We were able to offer help through our client assistance program. The fear of future financial concerns was driving the man in the relationship to push for his wife to abort their baby. They had already visited the abortion clinic and had gotten prices. We confronted the man with the truth about his role as protector and provider for the family, and, because they both were Christians, we were able to remind them about not allowing fear to drive their choices and to trust that the Lord would make a way for their family. It was interesting to watch relief flood the face of the woman when she realized that she would not have to undergo an abortion (story used with permission).
