Tea party, religious right often overlap

Tea party, religious right often overlap, poll shows: A new poll shows that half of those who consider themselves part of the tea party movement also identify as part of the religious right, reflecting the complex - and sometimes contradictory - blend of bedfellows in the American conservative movement.

  1. Every Christian should participate in our country's political system by voting intelligently and biblically. My concern, particulary as a pastor, is the amount of time and interest many Christians put into the current politcal state of our country. Many seem obsessed with the daily events in Washington, D.C. and those in office directing them. If I didn't know better, one would by observation and listening believe that a particular political party was either going to bring in the Kingdom of God or hinder its advancement. Frankly, if these same Christians were as fervent in there professed faith as they are in their political allegences, our nation would benefit far greater from the resulting impact.
