Intrapersonal Processes and Post-Abortion Relationship Challenges: A Review and Consolidation of Relevant Literature

ISPUB - Intrapersonal Processes and Post-Abortion Relationship Challenges: A Review and Consolidation of Relevant Literature: The prognosis for relationship problems post-abortion seems increasingly probable under certain conditions. Specifically, if one or both partners view abortion as the taking of a human life, would have preferred to avoid the abortion, developed an emotional connection to the fetus, experience negative emotions such as grief, guilt, and anger in association with the abortion, suffer from adverse mental health effects of the abortion, and/or possess an insecure attachment style, then the likelihood of relationship difficulties may increase.
