Calley's credentials are impeccable, said Larry Galmish, political action committee director for Right to Life of Michigan. The group is not satisfied with the position taken by Snyder, who opposes abortion except in cases of rape and to save the life of the mother and who also favors embryonic stem cell research. The addition of Calley, who is against abortion, does not make Snyder endorsable, Galmish said. "If we get a chance to talk to him, he may be a new convert."
