Todd Akin’s rape remark has GOP fretting - David Catanese - POLITICO.com: Answering a question about abortion from a local Fox station in St. Louis, Rep. Tod Akin said victims of “legitimate rape” very rarely get pregnant because their bodies prevent them from doing so. “If it’s legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” he told reporter Charles Jaco.

Editor: What does the idea of "legitimate rape" suggest to all the women who have become pregnant after rape? I don't know who the doctors were who gave Akin this idea, but they were not reliable.
